RENX

News feeds on everything happening in Canadian Real Estate. Sign up for their RSS feeds or their free newsletters to get all the news on Residential Real Estate, Commercial Real Estate, and even the latest environmental moves around real estate with their Green Newsletter. Best resource for staying on top of Canadian real estate news.

Rento-Meter

When analysing a potential purchase check out this website to estimate what you can charge for rent. They use sources available to the public to generate a range of potential rents for a type of unit in a given area. We still do our own research, but we like this as a quick and easy double check.

Early To Rise

A daily newsletter to make you healthy, wealthy and wise. We've been subscribers for almost 4 years. Fantastic source of motivation, tips and thought provoking insights to enjoy every day with your morning coffee.

Craigslist

The go-to place for posting units available for rent (and you post for FREE), and for checking what other properties are getting for rent in any given area.

View-it

We use view-it for renting our properties as well as checking out the competition. They come out and take pictures of the sites so you know you are looking at relatively current pictures taken by a third party. A great comparison tool and it's been as successful as Craigslist for us when renting out our tri-plex in Toronto.

Housing Maps

Craigslist mashed into Google Maps - it's a great new tool that makes rental comparisons so much easier in the cities they cover.

Landlord's Self Help Centre - Toronto

It's a non-profit legal clinic for landlords. When we were struggling to evict a tenant, this was the best source of free legal advice and legal documents. Their membership fee is nominal and well worth it. If you are a property owner in Ontario, sign up for their membership.

CMHC

For researching locations and general rental trends.

E-Zine Articles

As Featured On Ezine Articles

A great free resource filled with content from all kinds of authors (and you'll even find some articles from us!). I usually go straight to the Real Estate Investing section, but there is some great information in their Finance section as well.

Canadian Association of Home and Property Inspectors

Home inspections don't find everything, but unless you are experienced in construction, we always recommend you use a certified home inspector to inspect a property before you buy it.

Equifax Canada

Check your own credit score once a year to find any mistakes or identify areas where you can make improvements to your credit. A higher credit score means better rates on mortgages and an easier time getting loans.

BiggerPockets.Com

Online real estate community filled with resources for real estate agents, real estate investors and anyone else interested in real estate. It's mostly a U.S. site but I find a lot of great information in here.

Books! From Amazon

We're avid readers of everything real estate, and always find great reads at Amazon. Here are some suggestions, sorted by Real Estate in Canada, but we've put our current favourites in the right column for you to see as well. A.B.L. - always be learning!
